Job Summary

Provide 24-hour direction and guidance of nursing services in the dialysis clinic providing oversight and direction to all direct care staff that provide dialysis and nursing care in the clinic.  The Nurse Manager works in collaboration with the Dialysis Provider, RNs, LPNs, PCTs and other members of the multidisciplinary team to plan, direct, and evaluate the quality of care management of the patient, promoting the delivery of high, quality patient care. The Nurse Manager is responsible for assistance with budget development, supervision of nursing staff, staff performance evaluations, recruitment, hiring, holding staff accountable and assuring staff is maintaining compliance with MVHS policy and procedures, and Medicare ESRD regulations.  Must be competent to care for, assess and treat patients to provide nursing support as needed.  Supports the values and goals of MVHS and the Renal Dialysis Program.  Reports to Director of Operations and/or Executive Director of Dialysis.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Day to day operations of the clinic
  • Serves as a role model by demonstrating effective direct patient centered care, leadership, and professional behavior
  • Plans and provides a staffing schedule that meets the needs to provide direct nursing care
  • Conducts performance evaluations 
  • Works in collaboration with the Dialysis Clinician for the training and precepting of all staff members.
  • Supervises and serves as a clinical resource to clinic staff
  • Develops, maintains and evaluates patient care standards 
  • Attends and participates in Renal QAPI, monitoring quality goals
  • Assists in the oversight of the daily operations of dialysis sites
  • Promotes internal and external customer service
  • Assess and proactively address potential patient and/or staff issues
  • Addresses patient complaints
  • Works with Dialysis Providers and Program Director to improve/maintain quality care
  • Provides direct patient care 
  • Assists other dialysis clinics 
  • Other duties as assigned

Education Requirements

Required: Current Professional Nursing Registration in New York State; Bachelor's degree, or plan to complete; 12-months experience in clinical nursing w/ additional 6-months providing care to patients on maintenance dialysis; Ability to effectively communicate with patients, providers, and staff.

Preferred: Previous dialysis nurse and nurse manager experience highly desired.

Licensure/Certification Requirements

Required:  BSN, or plan to complete; Current CPR certification

Preferred: CDN or CNN
