IT Security Analyst II

Job Summary

The IT Security Analyst II provides IT planning and implementation of security measures to protect computer systems, networks and data. Information security analysts are expected to stay up-to-date on the latest intelligence, including hackers' methodologies, in order to anticipate security breaches. Responsible for preventing data loss and service interruptions by researching new technologies that will effectively protect a network.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Perform security awareness by providing orientation, educational programs, and on-going communication for both IT staff and employees.
  • Perform audits on network and systems related components.  Implement configuration improvement.
  • Analyze log data for security breaches.
  • Recommend changes and enhancements to existing infrastructure to improve security.
  • Responsible for day to day administration of security related components and systems.
  • Gathers and reports performance statistics and information for proactive security management.
  • Effectively uses IT issue ticket system.
  • Performs as project manager for security implementation and expansion, as well as related projects.
  • Perform research and development activities on new technologies and solutions.
  • Perform disaster recovery and contingency planning.
  • Perform proactive maintenance on security and related components.
  • Maintain security policy and procedures.
  • Evaluate vendor proposals and technology to secure needed services, hardware/software. Assist with duties such as procurement of equipment and purchasing of tools.
  • Is flexible and available for on-call duty after hours in a rotation with other support staff.
  • Proactively provide technical education and support to client support staff on network and information security procedures, taking pride in providing the highest level of customer service.
  • Maintain technical skills in line with current industry standards and certifications.  Actively participates in continuing education, seminars/conferences, professional societies/journals and networking with other security professionals to keep current with new developments and technology.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, telecommunications or related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in IT Security or applicable experience.
  • Ability to create, test and implement network disaster recovery plans. Advanced knowledge of and experience with network disaster recovery plans.  
  • Must work as an excellent team member with superb interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess good customer service skills and the ability to provide education and technical support to staff.
  • Attention to quality and detail.

 

Licensure/Certification Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • Minimum two IT certifications: CISSP or HCISPP required, CCNA, MCP, Linux+ .
