<span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Provide 24-hour direction and guidance of nursing services in the dialysis clinic providing oversight and direction to all direct care staff that provide dialysis and nursing care in the clinic.  The Nurse Manager works in collaboration with the Dialysis Provider, RNs, LPNs, PCTs and other members of the multidisciplinary team to plan, direct, and evaluate the quality of care management of the patient, promoting the delivery of high, quality patient care. The Nurse Manager is responsible for assistance with budget development, supervision of nursing staff, staff performance evaluations, recruitment, hiring, holding staff accountable and assuring staff is maintaining compliance with MVHS policy and procedures, and Medicare ESRD regulations.  Must be competent to care for, assess and treat patients to provide nursing support as needed.  Supports the values and goals of MVHS and the Renal Dialysis Program.  Reports to Director of Operations and/or Executive Director of Dialysis.


  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Current Professional Nurse Registration in New York State-required
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif""><span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">12 months’ experience in clinical nursing with an additional 6 months of experience in providing nursing care to patients on maintenance dialysis-required
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif""><span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Bachelor’s Degree – required or have plan in place to complete 
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif""><span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">CDN or CNN-preferred
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif""><span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Previous Dialysis Nurse Manager experience-preferred
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif""><span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Ability to effectively communicate with patients, providers, and staff-required
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif""><span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Experience/familiarity with CyberRen, EPIC, KRONOS, CROWNWeb, NHSN, MIDAS+Care Management, Dialysis ESRD regulations-preferred

    <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES TO INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:<span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif""> 
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Day to day operations of the clinic to include but not limited to patient, clinic, and personal management
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Serves as a role model by demonstrating effective direct patient centered care, leadership, and professional behavior
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Plans and provides a staffing schedule that meets the needs to provide direct nursing care
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Conducts performance evaluations to include, if needed, appropriate counseling in relation to performance with potential discipline. 
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Recognizes employee I-CARE performance and utilizes I-CARE program
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Participates in the recruitment process, including interviewing and selection of staff
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Informs, educates, and enforces adherence to MVHS and the Dialysis Program’s policies and procedures.
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Works in collaboration with the Dialysis Clinician for the training and precepting of all new and established staff members.
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Supervises and serves as a clinical resource to clinic staff, educating and mentoring staff members
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Develops, maintains and evaluates patient care standards including but not limited to hepatitis management, immunization management, care plan coordination, anemia management, vascular access management, tracking and trending lab values and adverse occurrences
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Attends and participates in Renal QAPI, monitoring quality goals
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Assists in the oversight of the daily operations of dialysis sites; maintains effective and efficient work flow
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Promotes internal and external customer service
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Assess and proactively address potential patient and/or staff issues
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Addresses patient complaints
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Works with Dialysis Providers and Program Director to improve/maintain quality care
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Assists with projects that improve quality service to include but not limited to Island Peer Review Organization (IPRO), ESRD Network 2, etc. 
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Participates/assists with Infection Prevention audits, Department of Health (DOH) Audits, DNV audits, Emergency Preparedness, etc.
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Provides direct patient care as needed
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Assists other dialysis clinics as needed
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Participates in Plan of Correction (POC)
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Assists with CROWNWeb as needed
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Assists with payroll
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Conducts monthly dialysis clinic safety audits, pharmacy audits, etc. as needed
  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Reports infections to National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) as needed


  • <span style="font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, push and pull.  Walking and standing most of the shift.
