Job Summary

Responsible for accurately scheduling and pre-registering patient appointments for all designated departments in addition to performing tasks related to these functions in a work queue.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Completes all functions of designated “needs appointment” related work queues using established guidelines
  • Completes all functions of designated “Registration follow up” related work queues using established guidelines
  • Follows up on all appointments on hold or pending with 48 hours of request
  • Ensures as much information is completed as possible to maximize the EPIC verification process
  • Notifies appropriate department(s) to notify of any same day cancellations or same day add on patients scheduled
  • Uses pre-determined scripting and/or interview techniques when obtaining information from physician offices, patients and/or patient representatives in a professional manner
  • Assigns and changes guarantors accurately and according to the department policy to ensure accurate billing and ensure patient confidentiality
  • Retrieves and indexes physician orders/scripts in OnBase
  • Indexes physician orders/scripts with patient’s name, test, diagnosis, and department
  • Schedules patient appointments as requested by patient, physician or physician staff received via phone, fax, work queue or report
  • Obtains and/or verifies patient demographic and insurance information and enters into designated computer system.

Education/Experience Requirements

Required: High School diploma or GED

Licensure/Certification Requirements

Required: Minimum 1 year of Medical Office, Hospital Registration, or Scheduling experience
