Billing Specialist - Nusring Home - Full Time - Days

Job Summary

The Nursing Home Billing Specialist is responsible for analysis of revenue cycle functions for the Nursing Home including but not limited to registration, billing, insurance/customer service collections and payment posting. The Nursing Home Billing Specialist must understand all payer and regulatory requirements to resolve accounts. Works under the general supervision of Manager, Revenue Cycle.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain the census within the revenue cycle system to ensure billing accuracy.
  • Analyze system reports to trend and resolve outstanding Accounts Receivables.
  • Assist management with detailed analysis of denial trends and provide recommendations to enhance processes with the revenue cycle automation.
  • Collaborate with admission coordinator and clinical departments to ensure financial clearance and increase revenue.
  • Supports patients and/or power of attorney with transition to long term care by gathering documentation required for insurance coverage.  
  • Maintain system edits to ensure accuracy of billing and patient statements.
  • Organize department documents through electronic scanning and system documentation.
  • Inform department staff and management of inaccuracies in system to ensure timely and accuracy of all department functions.
  • Maintain and reconcile cash on hand for resident funds and facility petty cash.
  • Prepare Advance Beneficiary Notices (ABN) and Notice of Medicare Non-Covered (NOMNC) to satisfy regulatory requirements set by CMS.
  • Comply with organization policies.
  • Prepare system for month end closing, reporting and cash reconciliation.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
     

Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:    

  • Associate Degree in Business, a related field or equivalent working experience. 
  • 1 year experience in an accounting/business role.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office or similar applications.
  • Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, related field 
  • Knowledge of Nursing Home Billing requirements
  • Experience with Electronic Health Record Platforms (ie. PointClickCare or similar application).
