Job Summary

Under direct supervision of the Senior Technician or Department Manager of Sterile Processing, is knowledgeable in the operations of Sterile Processing and will be proficient with all job duties assigned to this position.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Performs all phases of decontamination: instruments, carts, and equipment (commodes, Imeds, Isolation Carts, wheelchairs, stretchers, etc.)
  • Performs all phases of inspecting and assembling instruments for the OR, CTOR, Cath lab, EP lab, X-ray, ER, Sleep lab and all the off-sites.
  • Maintains accurate logs on all sterilizers. Can read and interpret printouts.
  • Reads and interprets printouts and knows how to retrieve instruments if a recall is necessary.
  • Restocks hemodialysis carts, minor procedure carts, and prisma carts and knows proper procedure for preparing instruments for off-site delivery after sterilization.
  • Operates heat sealer, labeling gun, and drying cabinet.
  • Properly handles gas cartridges, interpretation of printout sheets to assure correct sterilization and aeration times.

Education/Experience Requirements

Required: High School Diploma or GED
Preferred: Previous CS Tech experience

Licensure/Certification Requirements

Required: Extensive on-the-job training required
Preferred: CS Tech certification
