Job Summary

Assists in the directing and coordinating of the Clinical Trials Department and Breast Center in accordance with the hospital policies, state, federal and JCAHO requirements. Supervises all Clinical Trials staff and associated ancillary personnel. Position requires the ability to regularly educate patients, staff and physicians of all protocols/clinical trials and breast cancer topics. Coordinates and maintains all activities that are related to clinical trials and data management. Responsible for the coordination of all oncology activities including patient registration, data collection and submission, quality improvement, maintenance of drug protocols, adherence to federal regulatory agencies policies and procedures and coordination of the IRB activities.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains in depth knowledge of all current and new protocols as noted by ability to explain each protocol and provide basic eligibility requirements for any active protocol when requested.
  • Maintains a current and updated list of all protocols offered as noted in computer log and provides written and timely communications to all investigators and Oncology Administrator on status of all protocols.
  • Review with patients, staff, and physicians all protocols/clinical trials in order to implement trial.
  • Oversee, track, and train staff and physicians clinical trials administrative activities.
  • Collects and verifies that pre-study eligibility requirements of the protocol including tests have been meet prior to registration of the patient as evidenced by documenting paperwork, 100% of the time.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

Required: - Completion of 2 year degree in nursing.

                  - Prior experience in health field, must be knowledgeable in medical terminology, oncology staging and diagnosis.

Licensure/Certification Requirements

Required: Current RN license.
