Job Summary

The dialysis information systems specialist is responsible to oversee the development, design and implementation of dialysis information systems and is the key information services resource and contact.  This position supports the values and goals of Mohawk Valley Health Systems (MVHS),acts as a liaison between the dialysis program, MVHS Quality Department and Network Data Systems.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible to collect, analyze and enter data for the patient quality and safety committee and enter into the NHSN for all dialysis clinics. 
  • Reports information out at monthly quality assurance performance improvement (QAPI) Committee meeting. 
  •  Maintains regulatory compliance. 
  • Responsible for oversight of electronic medical record involving upgrades, test environment and deployment to dialysis clinics.
  • Provides leadership representation and facilitation for the QAPI Committee and Patient Quality and Safety Committee (for ad hoc reporting).
  • Serves as liaison between dialysis and MVHS network data systems and quality department. Provide technical and professional system leadershipand possess the ability to communicate with all levels of the Dialysis service line.
  • Responsible for system planning, design, implementation and project management.
  • Problem solving with billing, procedures, work flow, logic and systems required.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or one to 2 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competency in Informatics.
  • Must have current working knowledge of regulatory requirements specific to dialysis including but not limited to quality management.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of dialysis system management, strong interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills including
  • Provides strong logistical, analytical/problem solving, strong project management skills as well as good interpersonal skills.


  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Products including Word and Excel, the dialysis EMR CyberRen, Allscripts, AS400, Revrunner, CrownWeb, Kronos, Lawson and NHSN
  • Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills and working knowledge of CMS regulations
  • Must be able to function independently

Environmental / Physical Demands:

  • Able to handle stressful and unpredictable situations
  • Must be able to travel to all off site locations on a regular basis
  • Requires ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat, reach
  • Able to handle moderate stress due to workload
