Director of Specialty Care Services - Full Time
Job Summary
The Director Specialty Care Services is responsible for the operational oversight of the Community Medicine Specialty sites and service lines as assigned and staff to include clinical and quality management, performance excellence, patient access (registration and billing), information management, and employee relations. Supervises site leads and managers. Acts as a liaison between office and hospital support departments. Works with Senior Director of Operations to develop, monitor, and progress service line metrics. Participates in the strategic and long range planning of the assigned departments. Provides leadership in determining goals and develops processes to achieve these goals. Participates at the leadership level within the hospital and provides direction to the MVHS Medical Group office/department leadership team.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Assists in developing, implementing, and managing operating and capital budgets of assigned services demonstrating effective stewardship of resources and achieving annual goals.
- Has oversight of practice operations. Responsible for staffing/resource allocation, policy and procedure development and compliance, work flow analysis, and regulatory compliance.
- Provides advocacy and support for providers, aligning staff resources in a manner that supports providers and quality standards and policies.
- Leads teams which participate in the opening, consolidation and construction of new sites and locations and supports the implementation of new clinical service initiatives.
- Ensures providers and staff are properly supported in the areas of materials management, facilities management, information management, and human resources.
- Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining policies and procedures for the practice.
- Prepares, maintains and provides security for employee records, patient information, financial documents and other miscellaneous confidential documents.
- Schedules, prepares agenda and materials for, and conducts meetings with administration, committees and office staff to review and address operational issues.
- Responsible for maintenance and procurement of supplies or equipment.
- Assists in preparation and provides statistical information, reports and documentation for administration.
- Acts as liaison with other departments within the organization and outside representatives.
- Responsible for process improvement activities and initiatives.
- Works closely with and supports the Senior Director of Operations in the development and execution of the service line's strategic and tactical plans and goals.
- In partnership with leadership and Human Resources, makes decisions or recommendations related to performance management, hiring, transfers, corrective actions, terminations, etc. Resolves staff issues and grievances in a fair, timely and consistent manner, also in partnership with HR.
- Performs related duties as required.
Education/Experience Requirements
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration or related field required.
- 7 years’ experience in a medical office, acute care or ancillary healthcare services.
- 4 years’ experience in management/leadership role.
- Organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and accurately in both verbal and written mode concisely describing problems, solutions, specifications and plans.
- Project management skills.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and process management skills.
- Knowledge of healthcare information systems and understanding of clinical applications and related technologies, preferably with advanced electronic health record systems.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and to be self-motivated.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
PREFERRED:
- Master’s degree in business, healthcare administration or related field.
- Understanding of healthcare revenue cycle
