EKG TECHNICIAN
Job Summary
Performs or assists in the performance of specific testing procedures and services of the Cardiac Testing Department. Position is qualified to treat patients of all ages.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Generates and records interpretable EKG data for physician review
- Uses troubleshooting techniques to obtain EKG tracings with correct lead placement and minimal artifact.
- Performs complete pediatric EKG’s, including 15 lead tracings as required
- Provides patient teaching regarding the test based on assessment of the patient’s age specific ability to learn.
- Ensures patient privacy during test performance. Verifies ABN and prescription on all outpatients.
- Maintains equipment in proper working order, including routine cleaning and maintenance
- Makes clinical judgements that reflect both a knowledge of aspects of cardiac diagnostics and good judgement
- Assists in maintaining and stocking department equipment and supplies
- Provides education and training for selected groups of employees and students
- Perform other duties as required.
Education/Experience Requirements
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 0-1 year of related experience
- CPR certification
Preferred:
- Basic arrhythmia preferred
