Facilities Supervisor - Off Sites - Full Time

Job Summary

The Supervisor Engineering plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient operation of facilities across a multi-site health care system. This position is responsible for supervising building and grounds maintenance staff, overseeing repairs, and ensuring regulatory compliance in multiple locations. The incumbent also coordinates preventive maintenance programs, responds to after-hours emergencies, and supports project planning and analysis for facility systems including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate day-to-day operations and assignments of building and grounds maintenance staff across multiple facilities.
  • Ensure timely completion of repairs, maintenance requests, and projects in compliance with healthcare regulations and safety standards.
  • Assign TMA work orders, ensuring work is completed in a timely fashion and customers are informed of delays.
  • Regularly inspects various properties and projects throughout the MVHS system.
  • Analyze and interpret HVAC, plumbing, and electrical system plans; assist in evaluating and coordinating related projects.
  • Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules for all facility systems and equipment.
  • In collaboration with Facilities management, oversee regulatory compliance efforts including inspections, documentation, and corrective actions.
  • Respond to and coordinate resolution of after-hours facility emergencies.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and supervise internal and contracted service and repair activities.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and inventory of tools and supplies.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative departments to minimize disruptions during maintenance and repair activities.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate staff performance; ensure adherence to safety procedures and policies.
  • With the Manager and Human Resources guidance, provides input to or makes recommendations on employee hires, performance reviews, transfers, promotions, salary changes, disciplinary actions, terminations and similar actions. Resolves grievances and other staff problems in a fair, timely and consistent manner also in conjunction with HR.
  • Contribute to capital planning, budgeting, and long-term facility improvement initiatives. 
  • Keeps leadership informed of problems, issues and progress towards goals.
  • Perform related duties as required.
     

Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • 5 years of experience in facilities or a related field.    
  • Proven experience in one or more skilled trades (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc.).
  • Knowledge of building systems, preventive maintenance, and regulatory standards in a healthcare environment. 
  • Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead, guide and motivate staff.
  • Very strong customer service orientation, positive attitude, highly self-motivated, detail oriented and able to organize and prioritize multiple priorities.
  • Proficient with computerized maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to travel to multiple work sites within the region.
  • Available to respond to facilities emergencies during off hours.
     

PREFERRED:

  • Prior supervisory experience.
