Family Medicine Residency-Program Director

Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) is currently seeking a Program Director to lead the Family Medicine Residency Program. This position will be joining an Associate program director who has been with the program for many years, who will provide continued support. The position is a full-time physician position that includes a mix of clinical and non-clinical responsibilities, with significant protected time for teaching, administration and scholarly activity.

Job Summary

The Family Medicine Residency program is a full spectrum program and has been accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) since 1975.The ACGME accreditation was determined to be in substantial compliance with no citations. The program has also achieved accreditation for Osteopathic Recognition. There are currently 30 residents in the program and the leadership includes the Program Director and two Associate Directors. We continue to fill all slots in the match, so we never have to SOAP. With highly engaged residents and faculty and supportive administration, we strive to train Family Physicians who are prepared to practice the full scope of Family Medicine. With the hard work of all our team member we have a board pass rate of 98%!

The ideal candidate will have Family Medicine experience, with the skills and desire to teach residents.

Qualifications Include:

  • At least three years of documented educational and/or administrative experience
  • Current certification by the American Board of Family Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians
  • NYS Licensure and DEA
  • Leadership experience

MVHS serves Oneida, Herkimer and Madison counties with our flagship, Wynn Hospital, located in Utica, New York. Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) and successful completion of a residency and internship.
  • Experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty. 
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise.
  • Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise.
  • Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage.
  • Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
  • Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
  • Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Licensure/Certification Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • Current NYS Certification/Licensure
  • Federal DEA Certification
  • Board certified or Board Eligible in Specified Area of Medical Specialty, Medical Specialty License or Certification if applicable
