Groundskeeper

Job Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:

The groundskeeper assumes responsibility and accountability for performing all out door clean-up and service functions at both hospital and hospital owned properties.  Work performed in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.  Provides transportation for moving large pieces of equipment throughout healthcare network.  This position is responsible for snow and ice removal on all shifts as required.  Flexible working hours and winter on-call are required.

 

 

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS, OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Valid New York State drivers license.  Ability to have preventative maintenance program of equipment and all hospital owned vehicles.  Safety is an absolute must.

 

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:

Exposure to extreme cold, heat and to chemicals used on the grounds pesticides, sand and salt mixture, calcium flakes, paint, oils, gasoline and other healthcare related hazards. OSHA exposure to category A.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Lifting and carrying objects weighing up to and over 50 pounds.  Ability to lift, bend and work extended hours on foot, pushing and pulling required.

 

 

 

Education Requirements

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

High School graduate or equivalent.  Able to read and write instructions and comprehend verbal instructions given in English.
