Hearing Aide Dispenser - Occasional - Days
Job Summary
The Hearing Aid Dispenser performs hearing aid fitting/dispensing and follow-up services such as electroacoustical analysis, programming, benefit validation, repair and modification of amplification devices. Ensures patients receive optimal benefit from hearing devices through ongoing support, adjustment and counseling. This role combines technical expertise with compassionate patient care to enhance quality of life for individuals with hearing impairment.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Orders hearing devices as recommended by audiologist. Consults with audiologist regarding discrepancies in availability.
- Recommends appropriate hearing aid solutions based on patient lifestyle, needs, insurance/payor requirements and budget.
- Provides patients with accurate written estimate of all hearing aid charges for both new and repairs.
- Fits and programs hearing aids, performing real ear measurements and fine-tuning.
- Instructs patients and caregivers on proper hearing aid use, maintenance and care.
- Provides follow up services including troubleshooting, reprogramming, repairs, loaners and counseling.
- Maintains accurate and detailed patient records in EHR per policy, clinical standards and regulations. Keeps related logs and records as required.
- Maintains and uses work area, equipment and chemicals in a safe and orderly fashion.
- Keeps current with new hearing aid technologies, fitting techniques and industry best practices.
- Ensured compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.
- Managed inventory of hearing aid devices, accessories and supplies.
- Assists with QI/QA activities.
- Perform related duties as required.
Education/Experience Requirements
REQUIRED:
- High school diploma, plus 2 years accredited course work in audiology, healthcare or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- One year of experience as a Hearing Aid Dispenser.
- Familiarity with multiple hearing aid manufacturers and devices.
- Proficient in NOAH hearing aid software and MS Office and able to learn new software.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
REQUIRED:
- New York State registration as a Hearing Aid Dispenser.
- Current BCLS certification.
