Job Summary

Represents the Department of Nursing and Hospital Administration by upholding the philosophy and policies of the hospital in accordance with its mission statement and consistent with the nursing standards of Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare, as well as regulatory and accreditation requirements.

Responsible for supervision, coordination, and evaluation of nursing services activities/functions in patient care delivery.

Serves as a resource by providing assessment, assistance in planning, implementation, and evaluation of all activities within the hospital setting.

Collaborates with all departments and disciplines in providing patient care.

Provides direction to the Hospital Supervisors, Staffing Coordinators, and Patient Companions.

Represents the Hospital Supervisors on hospital and system wide committees, as requested.

Core Job Responsibilities

Receives and contributes to effective and efficient hand off shift communication amongst the hospital supervisors.

Follows up on issues and concerns accordingly.

Serves as the direct contact with the Medical Examiner.

Leads daily Bed Management meetings.

Serves as Bed Flow Coordinator as assigned.

Conducts nursing unit and patient rounding activities.

Responds to in house codes.

Communicates with AOC, as required.

Responds to concerns from staff/patient/families in the absence of the Nurse Manager, and as assigned.

Completes administrative daily reports and other reports as assigned..

Collaborates with the Staffing Coordinators and Nurse Managers with regard to staffing requirements.

Education/Experience Requirements

Required: BSN
Preferred:  Recent acute care experience preferably in a nursing leadership position

Licensure/Certification Requirements

Required:  Current Professional Nursing registration in NYS; ACLS Certification required
