Job Summary
Under indirect supervision, provides and manages direct medical evaluation, diagnosis, procedures, and care for patients within a recognized area of practice, or for a specified patient population
Core Job Responsibilities
- Inpatient infectious disease consultations at Hospital.
- Maintain an office schedule at Immune Health outpatient office.
- Serve on the Affiliates’ Infection Prevention Committee.
- Provide advice and consultation to the Infection Prevention staff regarding the development, implementation and enforcement of policies promoting the control, prevention, and treatment of infections throughout the Affiliates.
- Serve as an advisor and resource person to the Infection Prevention staff on infectious disease and infection control issues.
- Assist in the investigation and management of outbreaks of infectious diseases.
- Serve as an advisor to the Affiliates’ Employee Health Department on infectious disease issues.
- Serve as a liaison between the Infection Prevention Department and the Affiliates’ Medical Staffs for purposes of education and compliance regarding Infection Prevention policies.
- Share teaching responsibility of residents with other Infection Prevention providers.
- Participate in Hospital Medical Staff and MVHS Medical Group activities including department meetings and quality improvement.
- Maintain Active Staff privileges at Hospital
Education/Experience Requirements
REQUIRED:
- Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) and successful completion of a residency and internship.
- Experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty.
- Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
- Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise.
- Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise.
- Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage.
- Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
- Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
- Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
REQUIRED:
- Current NYS Certification/Licensure
- Federal DEA Certification
- Board certified or Board Eligible in Specified Area of Medical Specialty, Medical Specialty License or Certification if applicable
