Maintenance Supervisor - Full-time - Days
Job Summary
The Supervisor of Maintenance is a working team member who performs or oversees the activity of assigned staff and service contractors in the preventive and corrective maintenance of the building, fixed and portable equipment, minor construction, and equipment installation. Schedules all critical Life Safety inspections. Works under general supervision of the Manager, Maintenance.
Core Job Responsibilities
- In collaboration with department and facility leadership, plans, develops, organizes and implements the day-to-day activities and functions of the Maintenance Department.
- Provides leadership and functional direction to maintenance staff.
- Assists Maintenance staff with general maintenance work.
- Ensures all preventative maintenance programs for the building and facility are maintained. Provides monthly reports to Director of Plant Operations.
- Trains assigned staff in the proper techniques of Maintenance services, new equipment, new products, etc.
- Makes daily rounds on staff and monitors facilities work or projects.
- Ensures that all safety protective devices are in place on all power equipment on a daily basis.
- Understands and complies with applicable regulations, codes and MVHS policies.
- Diagnosis system malfunctions on a variety of mechanical and/or electrical equipment. Dismantles and repairs or replaces defective parts, reassembles, tests and installs repaired equipment.
- Performs and documents scheduled inspections and electrical safety tests necessary to maintain conformance to code requirements.
- Completes repairs and documents services rendered.
- Responds to calls for emergency repairs and is available for coverage on weekends or holidays as needed..
- Ensures that all safety protective devices are in place on all power equipment on a daily basis.
- Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment. Makes recommendations for equipment and supply needs to Manager or department leadership to improve safety, resident care or to reduce costs.
- Obtains quotes and pricing from vendors for special projects. Completes purchase requisitions for supplies, tools and equipment.
- In partnership with leadership and Human Resources, makes decisions or recommendations related to performance management, hiring, transfers, corrective actions, terminations, etc. Resolves staff issues and grievances in a fair, timely and consistent manner, also in partnership with HR.
- Collaborates with leadership, staff and residents/families and uses good customer service skills in all interactions
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Requirements
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience, and one year of experience in a general maintenance or trade role OR Trade school, Associate’s degree and 5 years of experience in one of these fields.
- Ability to perform or learn routine activities when repairing machinery, plumbing, carpentry etc.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient with MS Office tools, email, and able to learn new software tools.
PREFERRED:
- Associate’s degree in a healthcare related field.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
REQUIRED:
- New York State driver’s license subject to approval by our insurance carrier.
