Job Summary

Under the direction of a radiologist, performs radiographic mammography at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. 

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgement with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis 
  • Assume responsibility for specified radiographic mammography as required
  • May have individual responsibility for specified radiographic procedures and/or may be assigned duties as an instructor
  • Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients
  • Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure
  • Assists in maintaining basic records and reports
  • Assists in maintaining files
  • Performs daily quality assurance procedures in the mammography area                             
  • Perform other duties as required.

Education/Experience Requirements

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Satisfactory completion of formal Medical Radiography training in an AMA approved school and meets the requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists 

Preferred: 

  • 2-3 years job related experience

Licensure/Certification Requirements

Required:

  • New York State license for practice in Medical Radiography 
  • Certified in Mammography by the ARRT
  • ACR certification
