Job Summary

Under the direction of a radiologist, performs radiographic mammography at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail.

Core Job Responsibilities

Perform a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgement with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis
Assume responsibility for specified radiographic mammography as required
May have individual responsibility for specified radiographic procedures and/or may be assigned duties as an instructor
Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients
Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure
Assists in maintaining basic records and reports
Assists in maintaining files
Performs daily quality assurance procedures in the mammography area
Perform other duties as required.

Education/Experience Requirements

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent
Satisfactory completion of formal Medical Radiography training in an AMA approved school and meets the requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists

Preferred:

2-3 years job related experience

Licensure/Certification Requirements

Required:

New York State license for practice in Medical Radiography
Certified in Mammography by the ARRT
ACR certification
