Manager, Medical Staffing Services - Full Time - Days
Job Summary
The Manager Medical Staff Services is accountable for the day-to-day operations and management of the Medical Staff Services department, and serves as the liaison for the system between the Medical Staff Office and the medical staff. Works under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer or designee.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, prioritize, and coordinate the activities of the Medical Staff Office staff.
- Handle or manage the credentialing and privileging processes for physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) efficiently and effectively.
- Ensure full compliance with requirements of regulatory and accreditation bodies that are relevant to the Medical Staff Office activities. Implement corrective action when necessary under the guidance of the Chief Medical Officer. Lead applicable audits and surveys associated with medical staff services.
- Accountable for the system credentialing software system, ensuring complete documentation associated with processes and data management. Responsible for data integrity and accuracy.
- Accountable to maintain specialty-specific privileging criteria and forms.
- Ensure that Medical Staff bylaws, rules and regulations and policies are updated, stored and distributed to the medical staff under the guidance of the Medical Executive Committee. Accountable to maintain Medical Staff Office policies and communicate updates to appropriate staff.
- Implement goals and strategies for the Medical Staff Office.
- Keep CMO updated and informed of issues, concerns and progress towards goals.
- Monitor the department budget and ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures and department goals.
- Draft and maintain credentialing policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with Quality Department and Payer Enrollment department to ensure accurate quality and payer enrollment data is retained.
- Provide support to physician and APP leaders in their role associated with the medical staff services.
- Serve as the liaison between departments and committees of the medical staff and the medical staff office, providing necessary tools and processes to support the credentialing, privileges and medical staff management functions.
- Support the medical executive committee meetings in person, ensuring that minutes for medical staff meetings are generated, approved and stored in accordance with policy.
- Provide excellent customer service experiences to internal and external customers of the Medical Staff Office. Accountable for employee engagement and customer experience.
- In partnership with leadership and Human Resources, make recommendations related to performance management, hiring, transfers, corrective actions, terminations, etc. Resolve staff issues and grievances in a fair, timely and consistent manner, also in collaboration with HR.
- Perform related duties as required.
Education/Experience Requirements
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3 years of experience in a Medical Staff Office or accountability for credentialing & regulatory requirements, including one year of supervisory or leadership experience.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
PREFERRED:
- Certification by the National Association Medical Staff Services - Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS®)
