Job Summary

Under the direction of a qualified physician the Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures that require minimum independent judgement and initiative in the utilization of Nuclear Medicine for the diagnosis of disease.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Prepares stock solutions of radio pharmaceuticals and materials
  • calculates and administers doses under the direct supervision of radiologist
  • Calibrates equipment
  • Performs diagnostic exams on patients as ordered by physician
  • Uses scanners or scintillation cameras for detection of radiation emitted to produce image of an organ on photographic film.
  • Measures radioactivity
  • Instructs and prepares patient for the exam
  • Perform other duties as required.

Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certified as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (ARRT or CNMT) or board eligible

 

PREFERRED:

Graduate of an AMA school of Nuclear Medicine
