Nocturnist Intensivist

Job Summary

Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) is seeking a Noctunist Intensivist Physician to join our critical care team. This full-time, hospital-employed position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality care to critically ill patients during overnight hours. The Nocturnist Intensivist will oversee ICU admissions, manage acute care issues for existing patients, and collaborate with the Integrated Acute Care team to ensure comprehensive evidence-based care. Candidates must be Board Certified or Board Eligible with a NYS License. We offer a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to patients in the ICU during the night shift
  • Evaluate, admit, and stabilize critically ill patients
  • Collaborate with day intensivist team for seamless hand-offs and continuity of care
  • Work closely with hospitalists, surgeons, emergency medicine, and other departments
  • 373 Acute Care Beds
  • Open ICU with 42 beds, Intensivist cover 22-30 beds with the rest reserved for Stroke, Trauma and CT patients
  • Large, spacious ICU rooms designed to accommodate bedside procedures
  • Average of 12-16 patients per shift
  • Accredited HeartCARE Center
  • Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center
  • Accredited Cancer Center  

Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) and successful completion of a residency and internship.
  • Experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty. 
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise.
  • Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise.
  • Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage.
  • Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
  • Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
  • Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Licensure/Certification Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • Current NYS Certification/Licensure
  • Federal DEA Certification
  • Board certified or Board Eligible in Specified Area of Medical Specialty, Medical Specialty License or Certification if applicable
