Job Summary

Nurse OP Infusion Coordinator will serve as a single point of contact for the infusion center, responding to provider referrals, and facilitating patient care for complex oncologic treatments.  Will work under the general direction of the Vice President or designee,

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate services within the infusion center, starting from initial referral through the duration of therapy 
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for patients and families, as well as a liaison within the multidisciplinary team, to address problems or concerns throughout the continuum of the patient’s care
  • Ensure that service and care provided to patients is appropriate based on clinical needs
  • Educate patients about their treatment, while working with infusion center nurses to ensure patient and family centered care is achieved
  • Collect and review clinical information. Identify appropriate services required to schedule and treat the referred individual
  • Assign and coordinate referrals to the appropriate nurse, taking into consideration caseload availability, staff skill level, and expertise
  • Ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance for all patient and program data. Provide reports, analyze data, identify trends, and make recommendations for quality improvement activities and program opportunities
  • Perform other duties as required.
     

Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:    

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • 5 years of relevant nursing experience  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the practice of infusion therapy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Demonstrated problem solving, time management, and the interpersonal skills necessary to interact with all levels of hospital personnel and external parties
  • Computer experience with infusion software, electronic medical records (EPIC), Microsoft Word, and Excel
     

Licensure/Certification Requirements

REQUIRED:  

  • Current NY State Registered Nurse license

PREFERRED:

  • OCN certification
