Job Summary
Under the direction of the President of the College of Nursing and Deans of Student & Faculty Development guides students during laboratory and clinical practice to use the nursing process while adhering to standards established by the State Nurse Practice Act, Code of Ethics for Nurses, ANA Standards of Care, and the mission, philosophy, policy and procedures of St. Elizabeth Medical Center or other designated facility
Core Job Responsibilities
Promotes the correlation of the biopsychosocial sciences and nursing theory to clinical practice. Creates opportunities for learners to develop multiperspectival critical thinking and reasoning skills. Manages responsibilities in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner. Communicates level of progress to each learner through consistent feedback, collaborating in the development of a remediation plan when appropriate. Uses a variety of strategies to evaluate learning in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains. Maintains the professional practice knowledge base needed to help learners prepare for contemporary nursing practice. Develops collegial working relationships with students, faculty colleagues, and clinical agency personnel to promote a caring learning environment.
Education/Experience Requirements
Required:
- Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college.
Required:
- Two years of clinical nursing practice
- A minimum of one year of teaching experience.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
Required:
- Current licensure as a registered professional nurse in New York State.
- Certification in C.P.R. at B.L.S. level.
- Membership - New York State Nurses Association
