Job Summary

A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) in an advanced practice registered nurse who practices both autonomously and in collaboration with a variety of health providers on the interprofessional team to deliver high-quality, holistic, evidence-based anesthesia and pain care services. The CRNA cares for patients at all acuity levels across the lifespan in a variety of settings for procedures including, but not limited to, surgical, obstetrical, diagnostic, therapeutic, and pain management.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Administer anesthesia to patients undergoing surgical procedures
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and adjust anesthesia levels as needed
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures
  • Assess patients' medical history and develop an appropriate anesthesia plan
  • Educate patients and their families about the anesthesia process and potential risks
  • Maintain accurate documentation of anesthesia administration and patient responses

Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • Advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology
  • Experience in acute care settings, such as ICU or emergency department
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record systems, specifically Epic
  • Familiarity with aseptic technique and infection control protocols
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare team members
  • Ability to work well under pressure and make critical decisions in a fast-paced environment

Licensure/Certification Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • Valid certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
  • Current NYS nursing license
  • ALS / BLS certified
