Job Summary

The patient care technician provides basic nursing care to dialysis patients.  The patient care technician is responsible to implement, monitor, and document patient care based on established criteria by NYSDOH and CMS.  All care delivered is under the direction of licensed personnel.  Patient Care Technician certification is required within 18 months of initial training and can be obtained through a national certification board. The position requires the ability to care for patients greater than 18 years of age.  This ability is achieved through a knowledge of patient growth and development and an understanding of the treatment and care provided to dialysis patients.

Required: Completion of high school or equivalent.

Licensure/Certification Requirements

Required: Must obtain national certification within 18 months of start date to remain in this position.
Preferred: Nurse Assistant Certification highly desired.
