Job Summary

Reports to and is under the direct supervision of the Registration Supervisor of Patient Access Services. Interviews patients and/or representatives; Obtains Applicable authorizations; Records data required for admission/registration into applicable computer system(s).

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Practices pre-determined MPI search criteria and notifies System Support Specialist of any duplicate medical record numbers.
  • Obtains, verifies, and updates primary care physician (PCP) information at every visit.
  • Obtains, prepares and assembles required documents and forms dependent on the patient type (this may include physician scripts, consent forms, ABN’s, stickers, etc).
  • Checks AHIQA daily and corrects errors timely.
  • Ensures that all accounts are corrected prior to final bill drop.
  • Strictly adheres to the MVHS HIPAA guidelines ensuring each patient’s privacy is kept confidential.
  • Attends and completes required educational programs, including annual organization wide mandatory programs, department specific mandatory programs and position specific mandatory programs within the assigned time frame.
  • Explains all required facility forms to patient or patient’s representative. Completes each form in it’s entirety including marking check boxes, dating, timing and signing.
  • Initiates all relevant forms to patient based on service, insurance, patient status and all established requirements. (i.e IMM for Medicare, OBS for Observation).

Education Requirements

Required: High School Diploma; Two years post high school education
Preferred: Medical Terminology and excellent computer skills. Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks at once while maintaining poise, even in stressful situations

Licensure/Certification Requirements

Preferred: Medical office or related professional certification preferred.
