Psychiatry Physician Per Diem
Job Summary
Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary behavioral health team. This per diem, hospital-employed position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive psychiatric care to both adults and child/adolescent populations within the inpatient setting. The schedule is Monday-Friday, with a shared call rotation. Candidates must be Board Certified or Board Eligible with a NYS License.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Inpatient

- Provide psychiatric evaluations and assessments
- Prescribe and manage medications
- Review and reassess treatment plans and progress
- Provide education to residents, patients, and families
- Demonstrate quality in documentation
- Participate actively in team and program meetings
- Shared call
- Must be on site
- EPIC EMR with Provider Support team
Education/Experience Requirements
REQUIRED:
- Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) and successful completion of a residency and internship.
- Experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty.
- Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
- Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise.
- Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise.
- Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage.
- Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
- Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
- Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
REQUIRED:
- Current NYS Certification/Licensure
- Federal DEA Certification
- Board certified or Board Eligible in Specified Area of Medical Specialty, Medical Specialty License or Certification if applicable
