Job Summary

A Respiratory Tech Extern is a student currently in the Respiratory program who will perform various tasks to assist with departmental operations. This position provides experience in a clinical setting, supporting the respiratory team while complementing an academic learning program with real-life experience in a clinical respiratory setting.

Core Job Responsibilities

Assists respiratory therapists with non-clinical tasks such as equipment preparation, cleaning, and inventory management.
Shadows licensed respiratory therapists to gain practical insights into patient care and procedures.
Maintains and organizes respiratory supplies and ensure proper storage.
Supports administrative tasks, including data entry, filing, and scheduling.
Adheres to all safety and confidentiality protocols within the department.
Performs related duties as directed.

Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:

Current enrollment in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program or planning to attend.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong organization skills and attention to detail.

PREFERRED:

Basic knowledge of respiratory equipment and procedures.
