Sr. Director HR Operations - Full Time - Days
Job Summary
The Senior Director of Human Resources Operations is responsible for ensuring the effective design, delivery, and management of HR operations and systems across the healthcare system. This role oversees HRIS, Compensation, and Benefits, and Labor Relations while also playing a key role in the operational alignment of Talent Acquisition, Organizational Development, Performance Management, and Employee Health processes. Works under the general direction of the Chief Human Resources Officer.
Core Job Responsibilities
- In collaboration with HR leadership and operational leaders across the system, ensure HR programs, processes, and policies are efficient, compliant, and supportive of organizational goals.
- Provide strategic leadership and innovative solutions to maximize all aspects of HR Operations, software implementations, resource utilization and service delivery.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to HR and operational leaders, providing expertise on HR operations and organizational effectiveness. Ensure HR technology strategy and roadmap is aligned with the overall business plans.
- Lead and manage all technology solutions throughout the Human Resources function. Ensure HR employees have the training, tools and resources to deliver service excellence. With MVHS IT, ensure human resources-related information feeds into the various enterprise financial/information technology systems.
- Direct Employee Relations, HRIS, Compensation, and the Benefits teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and effectiveness in delivering HR services.
- Ensure the effective use of HR systems and analytics to improve decision-making, compliance, and operational excellence. Develop and maintain HR metrics and dashboards to monitor human capital performance, identify trends and recommend solutions.
- Negotiate benefits and employee health and wellness programs that are competitive, cost effective, compliant and efficiently administered. Oversee policies and processes that promote employee health, safety, and wellbeing in alignment with regulatory requirements. Actively manage Workers’ Compensation program, processes and policies.
- Serve on the negotiation team for collective bargaining agreements, ensure strategic guidance and training are provided to executive leadership, Human Resources, and Operations on all labor relations and employment matters, and partner with internal and external legal counsel Monitor changes in labor legislation, regulatory requirements and assure compliance.
- Collaborate with recruitment and organizational development leadership to streamline processes, improve candidate/employee experience, and ensure alignment with workforce planning needs. Support implementation of performance management, learning, and leadership development processes that enhance organizational capability.
- Establish, optimize, and communicate HR policies, procedures, and workflows to improve consistency and efficiency across the system.
- Ensure HR practices adhere to federal, state, and local laws as well as healthcare regulatory requirements. Make certain that employee and financial data is secure and kept confidential.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance employee experience and align HR practices with system strategy.
- In partnership with HR leadership, make decisions and recommendations related to performance management, hiring, transfers, corrective actions, terminations, etc. for assigned staff. Resolve staff issues and grievances in a fair, timely and consistent manner, also in partnership with HR leadership. Promotes teamwork among employees and between departments.
- Actively participate in HR budget process. Monitor expenses and variances.
- Perform other duties as required.
Education/Experience Requirements
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s Degree required in Business / Healthcare Administration or related field.
- 8 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, HR Operational Management, and Total Rewards.
- 5 years of leadership experience / management of a team.
- Strong knowledge of HR policies, labor laws, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience leading process improvements and implementing HR technologies.
- Strong technical skills with a proven analytical mindset.
- Executive presence, strong facilitation and influence skills, and the ability to develop productive partnerships.
- Highly effective written, verbal, listening and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
PREFERRED:
- SPHR or SHRM-CP certification
