Job Summary

The Wound/Ostomy/Continence Nurse is an advanced/experienced practitioner who uses a holistic nursing process approach based upon a broad theoretical base, knowledge, competence, and skill in the practice of nursing. 

The role is a complex one encompassing many sub-roles related to direct and indirect patient care.  Sub-roles include, but are not limited to, educator, practitioner, advocate, change agent, consultant, researcher, and administrator.

Education Requirements

Required: Graduate of an accredited Enterostomal Therapy Nursing Program.          
 

Licensure/Certification Requirements

Current New York State Registered Nurse license.

BS required, MS preferred.

National Certification required as a Wound/Ostomy/Continence Nurse.
