Assistant Nurse Manager - ED - Full Time (1.06) - Evening/Night

Work Schedule:  Four 10 hour shifts, Variable

Job Summary
Provide direction and guidance to staff; participate in the delivery of patient care in accordance with established protocols, policies and procedures.  This position will have the responsibility to develop, implement, monitor and coordinate the service excellence and coaching process for the Emergency Department.  Will work in partnership with the Emergency Deparmtent Leadership Team, to provide project leadership, develop strategies and tactics to improve patient experiences, improve flow, and work as a key resource for improving patient experience through enhancing throughput within the Emergency Department.  This position is variable hours, working in the evening giving the department coverage for the Nurse Manager to help maintain and increase throughput as well as patient experience in the Emergency Department.
Core Job Responsibilities
1 Round daily on ED patients
2 Educate and inform patients and families in waiting rooms
3 Daily callbacks on patients who LWBS/AMA
4 Addresses patient complaints in real time, and completes service recovery
5 Collaborates with ED leadership, ED providers and staff to develop and implement strategies to improve the patient experience as well as patient flow through the system as well as discharge
6 Will collaborate with ED leadership and Senior leaders to continuously evaluate progress while mitigating barriers to improving throughput and patient experience in order to achieve targeted results
7 This position is a key driver in implementing the improvement plan
8 Analyzes patient satisfaction/experience feedback through Press Ganey, complaint information, post discharge phone calls, direct observation, manager and staff perspectives to track and monitor patient satisfaction as the basis for developing recommendations for key initiatives
9 Report's findings and progress in formal presentations to ED leadership, department directors/managers, and staff.
10 In collaboration with leadership and departments, identifies, develops and implements targeted improvement initiatives and establishes key metrics to measure performance.  Establishes appropriate employee and department recognition of patient experience excellence.  This may be accomplished through the use of recognition program and development of informal approaches to team and individual recognition.
11 Demonstrates effectiveness, courtesy, and discretion in communicating with staff, physicians, Healthcare System employees, patients, and family members; models professional practice at all times.
12 May take patient assignment as needed
Education Requirements
Required BSN.  Current Professional Nursing Registration in New York State.
Licensure /Certification Registration Requirements
Required Current CPR certification
Required Experience
Required Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competency in clinical areas.  Ability to function effectively with multi-disciplinary groups.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  Excellent attendance record. 
Preferred Previous managerial experience highly desired.
