Quality Assurance Technologist - Full Time - Days

Job Summary

The Quality Assurance Technologist – Medical Imaging is responsible for all activities related to the Quality Assurance program for Medical Imaging within Mohawk Valley Health System.  Works under the direction of the Director of Medical Imaging.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with quality standards set forth by New York State Department of Health (DOH), Federal and local regulatory laws, with guidance from the radiation safety officer and reviewing physicist.  
  • Perform quarterly QA testing quarterly or annually as specified and records results. 
  • Maintain equipment QA records and documentation for all radiation-producing devices or equipment within Medical Imaging.   
  • Collaborate with physicist on quarterly CT, PET CT and Mammography testing and reports, as well as annual Ultrasound and Dental areas.  Review and maintain physicist reports,
  • Maintain a schedule tracking all QA activities as prescribed by the DOH.  
  • Maintain all preventative maintenance (PM) records, service records and tracking of PM timeliness, down time, intermittent problems and overall performance of all departments.  Report to the Radiation Safety Committee quarterly and DNV annually. 
  • Keep Radiation Committee informed of QA activities.
  • Stay informed regarding changes in regulatory requirements in the area of ionizing radiation quality assurance and associated technology.
  • Perform other duties as required.
     

Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:    

  • At least 5 years' experience as a technologist.
  • Expert knowledge of the New York State Department of Health Guide for Radiation Safety/Quality Assurance Programs.
  • Experience with multiple forms of diagnostic imaging software and hardware.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Excel).  
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations as they apply to QA testing.
  • Demonstrated time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to travel to worksites within the MVHS area.

PREFERRED:

  • Knowledge of physicist or Quality Assurance testing.  

Licensure/Certification Requirements

REQUIRED:    

  • NYS license
  • ARRT registered as a radiological technologist.
