Respiratory Therapy Manager - Full Time - Variable Shifts

Job Summary

The Manager Respiratory Therapy Manager is a Registered Respiratory Therapist (‘RRT’) who is responsible for managing all aspects of respiratory care and related services in collaboration with the Director of Respiratory Services (‘Director’) and the Medical Staff.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Manages the daily activities of Respiratory Therapists to meet the needs of patients while delivering high quality and cost effective care outcomes.
  • Handles staffing, scheduling, vacation requests and call outs.
  • Serves as a resource to therapists and other departments for complex clinical issues.
  • Analyzes clinical practice and identifies opportunities to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Responsible for staff compliance with established practices.  Implements new policies and keep employees abreast of changes to current standards and regulations.
  • In partnership with leadership and Human Resources, makes decisions or recommendations related to performance management, hiring, transfers, corrective actions, terminations, etc.  Resolves staff issues and grievances in a fair, timely and consistent manner, also in partnership with HR.
  • Coaches and counsels employees.
  • Ensures new hires receive orientation and training, and that all staff have the resources, tools and training necessary to fulfill their duties. 
  • Ensures supplies and equipment are available and functioning.
  • Provides and participates in in-service programs for staff.  
  • Attends conferences/in-services and educates staff on learnings.
  • May supervise Respiratory Therapy students as appropriate.
  • Leads and participates in Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.  
  • Assists in developing and monitoring the budget for the department,
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
     

Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:    

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Care or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Completion of an approved respiratory care program.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a RRT.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience. 
     

Licensure/Certification Requirements

REQUIRED:    

  • Registration by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRT).
  • NYS license as a Respiratory Therapist.
